Where will you spend eternity?

We do so many things to live a great life here on earth. In fact, many people do a lot for themselves and others for that purpose. But no matter how long we spend on earth, it's nothing compared to eternity. Eternity is forever!

You are not a physical body - you are a spirit being. Your spirit will continue to exist forever. When you leave this earth, do you know where you're going to spend eternity? Think about your soul.

Some people think that, if they do good things on earth, it will help them get to Heaven. That's not the case. We are saved by grace and by putting our faith in the finished works of Christ. No amount of works could ever add up to the payment required for sin. The payment for sin is death. Your brain can't calculate this or be the one to decide whether or not it's true. There is one who created you, and He is the one who knows right from wrong. You don't get to decide how you get to Heaven; the one who abides in Heaven is the one to decide, and He has said that Jesus is the only way.

Now you might be thinking, "If God loves me, then why did He make it so hard to be saved?" See, that's the thing - it's actually easy to be saved. Jesus took the payment for your sin, so you don't have to. The only thing God asks of you is to believe that Jesus actually accomplished this and that He can give you eternal life, then receive the gift of life from Jesus. That's it!

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. (Romans 10:9-10)

There is no other way to be saved, because to be saved, you've got to receive a new life that is sin-free. That life is made available to every single person on earth through faith in the finished works of Jesus Christ.

Remember, no matter how successful you are in this world, if you're not a success in God's eyes, you haven't fulfilled your purpose. There have been many who have controlled the whole world, but they left the earth and stepped into eternity, and they too have to live in the place they chose. You must think about life after this earth, whether or not you feel like it.

Some people are scared to think about eternity. They wish that God just wouldn't exist so they won't be held accountable for their decisions, but that's not the case. Just because you don't want to think about God doesn't mean that He doesn't exist. Whether you want Him or not, He's real.

Receiving the free gift of salvation is truly a simple thing of believing in your heart in Jesus Christ and taking a step of faith to confess His Lordship over your life. If you've not been born again, but you want to know this Jesus for yourself, in a personal way, say this prayer. Mean it with all your heart, and God will hear you and answer:

"Lord God, I believe with all my heart in Jesus Christ, Son of the living God. I believe He died for me and that God raised Him from the dead. I believe He's alive today and will return soon. I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord of my life from this day. Through Him and in His Name, I have eternal life. I'm born again. I receive the Spirit of God to live in me and guide me into all truth. Thank you Lord for saving my soul. Amen!"
