This month, we need to think differently. We need to appreciate wisdom in a new light. Even the Lord Jesus grew in wisdom (Luke 2:52), so we must ensure that we grow as well.
Christ has been made wisdom - the Word is wisdom, and we are made wise in Christ. However, some Christians corrupt their wisdom through their words and actions. This is a tragedy, and it's important to be aware of it, so we can ensure we do not allow this in our lives.
You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mount of God; you walked among the fiery stones. You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you. Through your widespread trade you were filled with violence, and you sinned. So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God, and I expelled you, guardian cherub, from among the fiery stones. Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. So I threw you to the earth; I made a spectacle of you before kings. (Ezekiel 28:14-17 NIV)
This scripture was God's account of what happened with Satan, who was formerly called Lucifer. Satan was once beautiful in splendor. God anointed him, and he was actually blameless before the Lord. However, his heart became corrupt because he saw his beauty and became prideful; he saw how much he was in charge of and began to think that he knew better than God. The word "wickedness" in this verse means "objectionable behavior." So, once beautiful Lucifer was found with objectionable behavior in his heart because he had corrupted the wisdom given to him by God.
How and why would this have happened? Lucifer was anointed, which meant that he had the power to do as he chose. As we see, he chose to do what was wrong. When his wisdom was corrupted, it became abominable to God.
As a Christian, Christ has been made wisdom unto you. One of the ways your wisdom can be corrupted is by your words. Don't tell lies - that will corrupt your wisdom. Don't speak words over your life that are foolish, because it will do the same. Corrupted wisdom is dangerous for you and those around you. If your wisdom is corrupted, your counsel can no longer be trusted. Others will have to be careful when listening to you, because what you say might seem right, but it's actually misleading. If you corrupt the wisdom God has given you, it will destroy you.
Think about what happened to Satan. He went from being a glorious cherub, trusted in watching over the whole earth, to being cast down to the earth for the purpose of making him a laughing stock. Lucifer became Satan, a being full of hate, lies, and murder. He became a thief and a merciless monster. While his case is extreme, it's a clear warning to us to keep ourselves from walking down the same path. Satan's corrupt wisdom is subtle - it's how he deceived Eve in the garden - and the only cure for deception is truth.
This month, we must delight in truth and fill our hearts with the truth of God's Word. Delight yourself in the Lord, and make it a point to get to know Him more than ever before. You've got to make up your mind to know more about the Lord. If you don't do this, you'll end up losing so much. By increasing wisdom in your life, through study and meditation on God's Word, the glory of your life will increase.
We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. (1 Corinthians 2:6-8 NIV)
The more you speak wisdom, the greater the glory in your life. But, you can't talk wisdom unless you're meditating on the Word of God. You've got to sanctify your tongue, and that first begins with sanctifying your heart and mind. If your heart and mind aren't working correctly, your tongue will speak the wrong words; however, if your heart and mind are functioning properly, you won't have any issues speaking God's wisdom. Saying the wrong things destroys your life and corrupts your wisdom. In the same vein, speaking the right things builds your life and keeps you walking in the wisdom of the just.
Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she will promote you; she will bring you honor, when you embrace her. She will place on your head an ornament of grace; a crown of glory she will deliver to you. (Proverbs 4:7-9 NKJV)
There are people who are very intelligent, but they are fools, because they trust only in their mental comprehension. The mind is a tool, and it can only go so far. There's a difference between intellect and wisdom. Wisdom is insight into reality, and the only way to know reality is through revelation - understanding being unveiled to your spirit.
Wisdom will bring you to a place of honor, and it will put a crown of glory on your head. This month, walk in absolute wisdom. Refuse to corrupt your wisdom. Walk in the truth and fill your heart with truth.
